The Public Service Co-ordinating Bargaining Council (PSCBC), notes with discontent the escalation in acts of violence and abuse of women. We specifically make reference to the crimes that have taken place over the past few days where a 22 year old pregnant women was gang-raped in the Johannesburg inner city and three Soweto women were murdered after apparently being raped.

The PSCBC pledges its support and deepest condolences to the families that have been affected by these brutal criminal activities. Women are the glue that holds our society together and the PSCBC values the pivotal role that women play in shaping our society. It is unfortunate that our women who are building blocks of our society are treated in an unjust manner and suffer the indignity of abuse. These criminals who prey on our women and take advantage need to be brought to book and the harshest sentence needs to be imposed on them. These criminal activities that they engage in is unforgivable.

We need to unite as a society in order to strengthen the struggle for the total emancipation of our women, to protect and uphold their dignity and fundamental human rights. No more, we are not prepared to accept the ruthless mistreatment of our women. The PSCBC calls on society and in particular our men who are fathers, brothers and uncles to stand up and reject this form of blatant abuse.

NO MORE ABUSE OF WOMEN!!!!!! NO MORE
