The PSCBC together with the Public Service Commission (PSC) will be hosting the third (3rd) Biennial Labour Relations Conference. The conference theme is: “The changing world of work: key issues for labour relations and employment relations in the Public Service, enhancing social dialogue and accelerating development”.The conference aims to maintain a momentum in providing a discourse to debate latest issues on labour relations in the Public Service. In order to achieve that it is significant to sustain this dialogue through constructive engagements with Labour Relations Practitioners within the public sector and with organised labour. Furthermore, the conference will provide an opportunity for interaction between labour relations and human resource practitioners and other stakeholders in the field of labour relations in the Public Service. Some of the key issues that will discussed at the conference will include amongst others,-The importance of social dialogue in preventing strike violence, also considering the impact of strike law and the broader implications for the Public Service;
-The success or failure of social dialogue: The broader implications;
An analysis of collective bargaining: Lessons to be learned in enhancing social dialogue;
-Critical analysis of collective bargaining in the Public Service: Domestic and International Trends;
-Overview of the latest amendments to the Labour Relations Act, 1995;
-The state of collective bargaining in the Public Service;
-Salary and employment outcomes in the South African Public Service: 1994 – 2013;
-General framework and the impact of the Occupational Specific Dispensation (OSD) in the Public Service;
-Towards accelerated growth and development: Advancing sustainability of human capital in the Public Service; and
-Essential Services and the implication of Minimum Service Agreement within the Public Service.

The event will be addressed by The Honourable Minister Mildred Oliphant, Minister of Labour; Mr Ben Mthembu, Chairperson of the PSC; and Adv Luvuyo Bono; Chairperson of the PSCBC.

The conference is planned in anticipation of the International Labour and Employment Relations Association (ILERA) World Congress in 2015.
